HOURLY RATE INCLUDES $0.75/hr premium.

 

General Summary:

The Administrative Assistant to Senior High Principal coordinates the activities in the main office and performs the duties of the Senior High principal’s administrative assistant.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees senior high secretarial staff and student aides.
  2. Answer phones, arrange appointments, and meeting schedules.
  3. Performs duties involving effective communications within the building and community.
  4. Coordinates daily guest teachers and completes necessary paperwork.
  5. Greets and assists visitors, staff, and students.
  6. Prepares and maintains records and related reports.
  7. Assists with staff handbook and curriculum guide as requested.
  8. Serves as liaison between parents/principal and staff/principal.
  9. Handles or assists with all accounting functions including and not limited to: deposits, purchase cards, check requests, reports, journal entries, budget transfers, and assists in balancing accounts and purchases supplies for staff.
  10. Handles phone changes and revises phone listing as requested.
  11. Organizes building special events.
  12. Organizes or assists with student registration in August.
  13. Assists in grant preparation, writing and follow-up.
  14. Types and maintains general information for all.
  15. Completes work permits.
  16. Establishes, maintains and revises files.
  17. Opens, distributes or otherwise handles mail directed to the principal.
  18. Creates Volunteer information, maintains and assists with getting volunteers when needed.
  19. Assists with lockdown and other emergency situations.
  20. Performs duties of notary public as requested.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. College degree and/or previous relevant work experience required.
  2. Advanced knowledge of computers and technology.
  3. Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm accurately.
  4. Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on details and time management.
  5. Excellent public relations skills.
  6. Ability to deal with injuries.
  7. Knowledge of math and accounting principles.
  8. Analytical ability necessary to gather and interpret data.
  9. Demonstrates proficiency in spelling, grammar, and information technologies.
  10. Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

  1. CPR and first aid preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  1. Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis. 
  2. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
  3. Duties include frequent walking and physical activity, as well as use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying. Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property, including bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, twisting, climbing, stooping, or crouching to complete work-related tasks with and without students. 
  4. The ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population.
  5. Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s).
  6. Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions. 
  7. Ability to work effectively and efficiently.

Environmental Conditions:

Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures, including work on slippery and/or uneven surfaces. Work environment includes working around students, school equipment, and office equipment. 

 

Work Schedules:

Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the district’s school year calendar.
