General Summary:
The Student Support Technician is responsible for the building level management of TCAPS’ one-to-one Chromebook program and the management of our student assistants to provide technical assistance to students and staff. This position also involves assisting the technology staff with the installation and maintenance of various technologies and support for student achievement throughout the district.
Location: East Middle School

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively, professionally, and respectfully represents Technology staff members, teams, and their services to TCAPS staff.
  • Manages TCAPS’ Chromebook program including the preparation, distribution, maintenance, repair, tracking, and collection of student devices.
  • Builds relationships with internal staff and works well in a team setting
  • Assists the district’s Technology Curriculum Coaches with the management of the student tech program.  Assists the Coaches in developing service and technical-oriented skills to provide an excellent customer experience.
  • Determines the most effective manner to resolve customers' technical issues. Engages in research and in-depth troubleshooting to resolve technical issues. Consults with technology department staff when necessary.
  • Collects and records required customer and problem information in our work order system.
  • Elevates complex and/or high-priority problems to the appropriate support groups for resolution. 
  • Tracks, synthesizes, and accurately reports repairs and inventory of devices.
  • Assists department staff in technical challenges such as hardware/software installation, diagnosis, repair, and training.
  • Develops and maintains documentation for all technological systems within their assigned locations.
  • Occasionally staffs nighttime activities for technical support.
  • Maintains acceptable and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Previous experience and/or training on a variety of hardware, and software. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on details and time management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques on a Chromebook or PC
  • Ability to independently research solutions or information regarding technical issues.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret information.
  • Detail-oriented and skilled in tracking, and reporting data. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use various tools involved in the installation of computer equipment
  • Ability to transport items weighing up to 50 pounds and must hold a valid driver's license.
