The starting salary is based upon the previous number of years of teaching experience and salaries are prorated to the start date for the 2024/25 school year.

 

General Summary:

 

The Instructional Coach will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-base effective instruction. In order to meet this purpose, the Instructional Coach will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers. The Instructional coach will report to the building principal.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates willingness to assume leadership positions.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of researched-based instructional strategies that engage all students.
  3. Provides organized individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge using a variety of assessment tools.
  5. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
  6. Provides support in analyzing student assessment data.
  7. Assists teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data.
  8. Assists teachers with specific classroom strategies when requested.
  9. Provides support for classroom motivation and manage strategies.
  10. Assists teachers in alignment with curriculum aligning lessons and units to meet student needs.
  11. Monitors intervention programs by observing and meeting with teachers.
  12. Instructs and supports teachers with curriculum software products and classroom/curriculum related technologies.
  13. Provides assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
  14. Models lessons when appropriate.
  15. Encourages ongoing professional growth for all teachers.
  16. Manages time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning.
  17. Works positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
  18. Develops and maintains a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers.
  19. Possesses an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics involving students in classroom observed.
  20. Obtains advance approval of the Principal/Director of curriculum and Instruction for unique activities and expenditures.
  21. Attends workshops/conferences to learn about new innovative instructional strategies.
  22. Understand that job responsibilities may vary related to each building’s needs.
  23. Performs duties as assigned by Principal and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

  2. Facilitates the intellectual and professional development of teachers.
  3. Creates positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
  4. Communicates and demonstrates researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
  5. Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  6. Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
  7. Supports the value of an education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college/university.
  2. Current Michigan teaching certificate.
  3. Minimum of eight (8) years of successful teaching experience.
  4. Experience in researched-based instruction practices.
  5. Proficiency with curriculum software.
  6. Desire to continue career improvement.
